Burst water main causing ‘chaotic’ delays and impacting school buses

Affinity Water is currently working in Aldenham Road, Bushey, with unplanned emergency roadworks taking place set to also affect the school run.

As a result of the closure, buses are on diversion, including routes that serve Queens’ School and St Michael’s Catholic High School.

Schools have apparently been advised of the disruption by operator Sullivan Buses.

Buses 306A, 833 and 306 are impacted, with a full diversion map being provided on the operator’s X/Twitter page.

As of 1.30pm there are long delays in Aldenham Road, particularly near HO LOK Chinese And Cantonese Takeaway. Google Maps is also showing heavy traffic in nearby Chalk Hill, near The Victoria pub.

According to traffic website One Network, a permit for the work is in place until 11.59pm on Wednesday (February 4). However, as these are emergency works this is just a guide and disruption could end sooner or be extended.

One social media user has described the situation as “really chaotic” and causing “long delays”.
