Courtlands residents questioned why the aircraft was heard circling above homes between 1am and 2am today (August 5).
One speculated they could be “could be looking for a thief or missing person”, while another commented: “I’m grateful to know the police are trying their best to keep us safe.”
A police spokesperson has now confirmed they were called at 12.45am to reports of an assault in Leggatts Rise.
The individuals involved had left before officers arrived, who then searched the area with the help of the helicopter.
Police identified an address where they found a teenager with minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment. Officers arrested him on suspicion of affray and he remains in police custody at this time.
It is not clear how many people were involved in the assault in Leggatts Rise and no suspect descriptions have been issued. Police have been contacted for more details.
